Major transport milestones reached
At the start of September, we were delighted to mark another major milestone as construction got underway for the Barking Riverside pier, which will be served by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers from 2022.
We are pleased to have appointed McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd to deliver the design and build of the pier to serve our brand new Barking Riverside Uber Boat by Thames Clippers service. The fabrication of the 63-metre canting brow, which will be one of the longest on the network, is underway off-site by Ravestein BV, a shipyard construction company in the Netherlands. We are now looking forward to the constructed pier being brought to Barking Riverside in early 2022 with services running initially during the AM and PM peak times and all day on the weekends. We would like to thank our partners Barking and Dagenham Council, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, and our own Infrastructure Team for helping bring this project forward at pace.
Simultaneously, work on the Barking Riverside London Overground station is progressing well. At the start of summer, the entrance to the new station was installed, featuring its very own iconic TfL roundel. The station, designed by architects Weston Williamson + Partners, and delivered by JV partners Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd, and Transport for London, is expected to open in late 2022.
We will be sharing updates about the opening of both the pier and the station early next year – keep an eye out for more information from us closer to the time.
