Last Saturday, we hosted another Community Conversation Time at Barking Riverside.

These regular sessions are about open conversations and sharing ideas as the neighbourhood continues to grow. If you couldn’t make it, here’s some of what you missed 👀

💡 Empress Hair and Beauty: Attendees met founder Erica, who is due to open in Rivergate Square this April. Residents were able to help prioritise which services should be offered, with a strong preference for massage and facials, as well as pedicures and haircuts.

💡 Introducing The Spot: Offering a modern neighbourhood-focused dining experience, The Spot will serve Mexo-American food on Huggett Road. Attendees helped finesse the emerging menu – set to launch in May – and said they are looking forward to their buffalo chicken sandwich, honey mustard wings, and fresh fries.

💡 Circus and Boulevard updates: Set to open at the end of the month, residents enjoyed a guided walk of the Circus and Boulevard where they were able to gain a deeper understanding of the planning and design of the area, including BRL’s work with Make Space for Girls.

💡 Service Charge Working Group (SCWG) progress: Attendees received an update on the SCWG, which is now established with 9 different landlords and agents from across the estate. Regular workshops over the next 6 months will focus on reviewing methodologies, establishing protocols, and sequencing, all with the aim of increasing accuracy. Attendees also received updates on efficiencies, with more to be announced next month. Residents will be updated as further progress is made.

💡 The 2026/27 events calendar: Attendees shared their feedback on previous community events to help shape the calendar for this year. We were pleased to hear that residents feel our previous events have been high-quality and would recommend them to a friend. Residents would like to see more events that respond to their priorities, especially around food and film. The new events calendar will be published next month having been shaped by feedback from CCT.

If you have any follow-up questions, please email info@barkingriverside.london, and we’ll continue sharing updates here.
Spring events coming soon to Barking Riverside🌸

The Resident Events Panel (REP) is back with a full day of creativity at The Wilds on Saturday 14th March. There will be two interactive sessions, one for little ones and the other for grown-ups to enjoy.

In the afternoon, it’s all about the kids, with hands-on ceramic painting and spring bonnet making – there will be plenty of colour, creativity and masterpieces they can take home.

As evening falls, adults can unwind at the Sip & Paint Soirée, with professional musicians, drinks and a relaxed, sociable painting session led by an artist – the perfect way to round off the day.

What makes the REP events so special? They’re planned and delivered by residents themselves. The REP leads part of Barking Riverside’s events calendar, creating exciting activities and sessions that reflect what the community wants to see.

Wondering what’s happening along the river? 🤔

You may have seen activity along the riverfront as the foreshore works get underway. From this week, you’ll start to notice some changes around the jetty, including the path that links the jetty with the Project Office:

• Hoarding will be installed on the jetty approach.
• The path between the Project Office and the jetty will close, but the jetty can still be accessed from Station Gardens.
• Some fencing will be introduced around parts of the foreshore.

For the next few weeks, Footpath 47, the path along the Thames, can be accessed as normal, but with some disruption as the works begin.

From 27th March, the Footpath 47 will be formally diverted over to a temporary route. Additionally, there will be a more direct route around the contractor’s compound. These routes will be in place until the completion of the foreshore works. BRL has previously provided information on this at engagement events. Also, all residents were written to before Christmas 2025.

We apologise for any inconvenience whilst these critical enhancement works are being carried out. Regular updates will be shared on our social media channels, and you can also find out more from our bio
