A YEAR-ROUND SOCIAL SCENE

Barking Riverside offers a calendar of events focused on bringing neighbours and friends closer together. Local events – some of which are led by the community – showcase the area’s talents and range from art exhibitions to workshops to outdoor cinemas.

Taking place every September, Emerge East is a free festival celebrating community, creativity and nature. Expect emerging artists and artisans, makers and bakers, movers and shakers, along with a whole array of fun activities, such as a pop-up sauna on the banks of the Thames.

GROUNDED

A cornerstone of the community, GROUNDED is a coffee shop run by residents. Established as an independent co-operative, GROUNDED offers drinks, cakes and light lunches in a beautiful setting at The Wilds. You can also grab a GROUNDED coffee on the go from their horse box trailer in Station Square, Monday to Friday.

COMMUNITY CENTRES

Our community centres host a weekly calendar of popular events and activities including fitness classes and community meet-ups.

Facilities at The Wilds include GROUNDED, modern co-working spaces, a privately run pre-school, and rooms for hire.

The Rivergate Centre provides a multi-faith space, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and rooms for hire.
