One of the most important parts of being a Resident Director is asking questions.

Resident Directors review reports, challenge information where appropriate, and scrutinise information about estate services, budgets and performance.

It's all part of helping ensure decisions are transparent, well-informed and in the interests of the community.

Fancy joining the Board? You don't need to be an expert - just someone who's curious, willing to learn, and committed to Barking Riverside.

Meet the CIC Directors 👋

introducing Serena, one of the Resident Directors on the Barking Riverside CIC Board.

"I joined the CIC as I wanted to represent the interests of people who actually live in the community, helping to influence estate services and projects. I’m motivated to improve the local area as it develops, ensuring decisions are handled responsibly and transparently.”

Outside of her work on the CIC, Serena is the Headteacher at Hornchurch High School and previously served as the Deputy Headteacher at Riverside School.

Living and working locally has given her a strong understanding of the community and the needs of local families and young people.

“I am excited about the scale of Barking Riverside and its potential as a truly transformative development. As one of the UK’s largest brownfield residential sites, it offers residents a rare opportunity to shape a thriving community, and the CIC’s role within the estate is just one example of this.”
