New Openings at Barking Riverside: Exciting Developments for the Community

At the end of 2024, Barking Riverside Limited (BRL) proudly announced the opening of a brand-new, permanent Co-op store in the Northgate neighbourhood. This larger, purpose-built store replaces the temporary Co-op near The Wilds, offering nearly double the space and an expanded range of products. Barking Riverside residents can now enjoy fresh produce, ready meals, bakery goods, hot food, vegan options, and more, alongside a convenient ATM and PayPoint services.

Store Manager Waqqas Javed shared his excitement: “It looks fantastic, and it’s exciting to move from our temporary site to our brand-new store, where we will provide an enhanced range and choice, with the quality, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone. We are looking forward to welcoming our members and customers into their new Co-op as we’re here to conveniently serve and support our community.”

Looking ahead, BRL is progressing with several other commercial units on Huggett Road, next to the new Co-op store. These spaces are set to house a variety of local services and retail options, creating a thriving promenade for the growing community. With completion nearing, BRL is in discussions with potential businesses, and these units are expected to open later in 2025, complementing the Co-op and offering essential services for the whole community.
