Riverside School secures ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating
Providing high quality amenities and opportunities for the local community sits at the very heart of what BRL does and we were therefore delighted when Riverside School secured an ‘Outstanding' rating from Ofsted following a recent inspection.
The report, published on 18 November 2022, awarded Riverside School an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all areas, including the Sixth Form. The other categories include quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
This grading establishes Riverside School as one of the best educational institutions in the Borough of Barking and Dagenham, having demonstrated consistent excellency across the full spectrum of its educational offer.
The Ofsted Inspection Team commented: “The school’s motto, ‘Excellence for All’, reflects the ambition that leaders have for the whole school community. A very strong culture of high expectations across the school means that pupils here are encouraged to succeed. Pupils benefit from a rich curriculum that is taught expertly by very well-trained staff. The ambition for all to do well includes those pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), who follow the same carefully considered curriculum as their peers. Pupils work hard and achieve well. Very clearly established routines ensure that pupils are engaged in their learning and that their work is of a consistently high quality.”
Overseen by Headteacher Andy Roberts, the report is a fantastic recognition of the whole of the Riverside School team, who strive so hard to ensure the school delivers the highest standard of education.
Riverside School comprises the 10-form entry secondary school at the Riverside Campus, which is the UK’s largest free school campus. Led by Partnership Learning, the £45million campus provides state-of-the-art facilities, including a four-court sports hall, four multi-use games areas, an all-weather Astroturf pitch, two dance studios, fully equipped science labs and an impressive main hall.
This report is an excellent accolade for Barking Riverside, for both the existing community as well as future residents. Looking to the future, we will continue our work with Partnership Learning for the remaining schools set to join Barking Riverside, ensuring the development continues to be home to some of the best schools in the Borough.
Once completed, there will be seven schools in total at Barking Riverside London—including the three at Riverside Campus.
