We’re thrilled to introduce Lucy Lee as the new Community Partnership Lead at Barking Riverside Limited (BRL). Lucy joins the team whilst Sara Bloch is on maternity leave, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the local community. Having lived in the area for 19 years, Lucy is already a well-known figure in Barking Riverside, with a history of community leadership through her work at Thames Life. She played a key role in launching GP drop-in sessions across Barking Riverside and Thames View and has also worked as one of BRL’s Thames Futures community researchers, engaging with residents to gather valuable feedback on the area.

We sat down with Lucy to learn more about her new role and what she’s looking forward to.

“Where to start! It’s a huge role, but my main focus is on resident engagement, be that via Community Conversation Time, or supporting the Resident Events Panel in delivering creative and inclusive events.

“Through my previous roles at Thames Life and as a community researcher, and of course being a resident myself, I’m familiar with many voices here at Barking Riverside. I’m really looking forward to getting to know even more people and hearing different perspectives. I’m keen to make deep connections with residents, whilst also having a whole bunch of community fun in different venues across the area!”

“The best way you can get involved is to come to an event and speak to us. Why not drop into a Community Conversation Time session to learn about what’s coming here and to share your views.

“We appreciate it can be difficult to come to things in person, so keep an eye on Barking Riverside’s social media to make sure you don’t miss the next round of Thames Talk surveys – these give residents the opportunity to have their voices heard.

“If you’d like to be even more involved, we’re also welcoming new members to the Resident Events Panel. This is a group of residents who mastermind and run a series of fun and innovative events across the year, designed to bring people together. The panel receives training and support on how to run events and have a great time doing it.”
