Community – a place that is Barking Made

Barking Riverside is a place made by people like you.

A warm and welcoming community, who takes pride in what we are achieving together.

When people move to Barking Riverside, they become part of something bigger. The community here is invested in making this the best place it can be. Residents actively participate in shaping the social, natural and built environment, creating a deep sense of purpose, belonging and pride.

Recent events – bringing our community together

Barking Riverside has seen many community events in recent months, including the opening of The Wilds, art exhibitions, Supper Clubs, and a winter market.
Home to a well-established and proudly diverse community, Riversiders play a leading role in making the neighbourhood a fun and fulfilling place to live, work and visit.

From the resident events panel to the editorial board who write the local newsletter, residents take an active part in running a programme of initiatives that benefit all. Together, we make Barking Riverside a place that everyone can be proud of.

The Community Interest Company

The Barking Riverside Community Interest Company (CIC) is a bespoke, not-for-profit social enterprise that will eventually be responsible for holding, managing and maintaining the Barking Riverside estate. The CIC will also have a focus on providing community benefit across Barking Riverside. Steered by a Board that will prioritise resident directors, the CIC will enable a much higher level of resident-led decision making.

A place for everyone

Several of the current and future facilities at Barking Riverside have been co-designed with local people. This includes the local playparks and the new Wellbeing Hub, which will include a GP, a gym and a state-of-the-art waterpark.
