The Mayor of London launched his draft London Plan today at Barking Riverside London.
The ambitious plan to help deliver London’s future was launched on site today with the Mayor of London’s deputies – Jules Pipe, Val Shawcross and James Murray.
David Montague, Chief Executive of L&Q, and Matt Carpen, Project Director for Barking Riverside, welcomed Sadiq to the site and praised the draft plan’s approaching to tackling the housing crisis. This includes amending planning rules to get more affordable homes built, especially in areas served by strong infrastructure.
While on site, Sadiq spent time speaking with two L&Q graduate site managers Emmanuel Baker and Maria Kaskara on how the development is progressing.
David Montague, Chief Executive of L&Q, said: “The London Plan that Sadiq Khan launched today takes an imaginative approach to tackling the housing crisis. This strategic plan for London will ensure that neighbourhoods across the capital continue to flourish, with the right balance of new housing and much needed transport infrastructure.”
The plan opens for consultation on Monday and sets out plans on a range of issues including housing, fire safety, cycling, and fracking.
