About Us

Barking Riverside London Partnership

Barking Riverside London is a partnership between The Mayor of London and L&Q which was formed in March 2016. The partners will be working together to drive housing delivery on this site to over 600 homes per annum – up to 50% of these homes will be affordable.

The partners will be working together to drive housing delivery on this site to over 600 homes per annum. L&Q is one of London’s leading residential developers delivering award-winning mixed-use schemes across London and the South East, creating places where people want to live and work. Coupled with the Mayor of London’s drive to deliver affordable homes makes this one of the biggest opportunities to deliver high quality and expedient housing delivery in one of London’s biggest and most exciting opportunity areas.

Based on strong environmental principles, with a high proportion of larger homes for families, Barking Riverside London will feature healthcare, schools, open space, public squares, new rail station with links to central London, up to 65,000 sq.m. commercial floor space including shopping, community and leisure facilities with an ambition to create a new night-time economy in this part of the borough.

Our Partners

L&Q

A multi-award-winning organisation, L&Q is a leading UK housing developer, creating the highest quality new homes across the capital and beyond.

Dedicated to developing places where people want to live, L&Q build homes to appeal to a wide range of buyers – from first time purchasers looking to get their feet onto the property ladder, to second steppers and growing families. Quality of design is of the utmost importance and the organisation works with some of the UK’s most esteemed architects, designers and landscapers, to help form the most attractive of new neighbourhoods.

As one of the UK’s most successful social businesses, L&Q’s role goes beyond just contrasting new homes, with all profits generated from the sale of its homes invested in new and existing homes and services, creating successful communities and providing excellent services.

Our Partners

Greater London Authority

The public sector side of the joint venture has changed over time. The site was originally a joint venture with English Partnerships and through various organisational restructures the project was first passed to the Homes and Communities Agency and then to the GLA.

The GLA’s role is to create an opportunity for people to live in high quality, sustainable places. The Mayor’s objectives for London filter through to this site including through funding for affordable housing.
