Easter opening for newest play park

Over 100 local residents came out to celebrate the completion of Playhill Park, Barking Riverside’s newest park, this week. Local families and children enjoyed the now fully opened space and new equipment, with a complete schedule of activities from local groups, Triangoals and a local Parkour group, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny.

A host of activities were available for children of all ages. Triangoals led basketball and football sessions for school children while a Barking based Parkour group ran free taster sessions throughout the afternoon – teaching a range of ages, from toddlers to teenagers, how to safely and creatively use the park equipment to keep fit.

Free hot drinks were distributed by local favourite Riverside Coffee Lounge, while the Barking Riverside Easter Bunny gave away little Easter treats.

Joining the festivities were team members from Good Gym, a growing community of walkers and runners with a socially conscious mission. The running group pairs exercise with volunteer work, ranging from large, one-off projects to regular catch ups with an older member of the community, and is the first of its kind in Barking Riverside. Local residents will have the opportunity to positively impact the community whilst keeping fit.
