CIC Training and Job Roles Soon to be Available for Local People

To make sure the new CIC reflects local people, we want to work with a group of Thames Ward residents to make all the key decisions.

To fairly recognise the contribution that these residents will make to the decision making process, we can pay London Living Wage to those who volunteer. It is important that this process invests in local people.

You don’t need any prior experience to be involved, other than being a passionate resident from either Thames View, Barking Riverside or Strattons Farm. You will receive training as a part of the process.

If you want to find out more about the role than either attend the event on the 15th, or email: [email protected]

Barking Riverside partners with UKActive

Barking Riverside Limited has partnered with UKActive to create more opportunities for residents in Thames Ward to be active. UKActive are conducting an ambitious research project for us, as London’s only ‘Healthy New Town’, investigating how we can maximise our 2km of water frontage and ultimately deliver new river facilities to our residents.

We will consult with London’s water and coastal authorities and agencies on emerging concepts and ideas, as well as drawing on ukactive’s expertise.

Committed to creating a healthy environment for our residents, our pioneering plans have set out to include physical activity by design; identifying exciting new opportunities for the area – which could be anything from Dragon Boat Racing on the Thames to open water swimming in a public lido!

Teens enjoy making a beat!

Teens living in the Thames View ward are getting the opportunity to work with industry professionals whilst learning to make music, rap and more, using the latest technology on a fully equipped, state of the art music bus.

The Young Urban Arts Foundation (YUAF) are offering free workshops in music production, rap, lyric writing, every Tuesday* evenings from 6-8pm, for teenagers aged 11-15  years.  Over the next five months, YUAF music bus will be at Crossness Road for teens to enjoy.

Matt Carpen, MD of Barking Riverside Limited said, “This is a brilliant facility made available exclusively for teenagers living in the ward, thanks to the L&Q foundation who have funded the project.  We’re also keen for local musicians to get in touch as the project also features a mentoring programme using local people. ”

If you are a local musician who would like to get involved, please email: [email protected]
