GoodGym, the socially minded project that mixes healthy lifestyles with community focused volunteer work, is establishing their first Barking-based group.
GoodGym Barking is looking for someone passionate about fitness and their local area to lead the new community of runners and walkers as the GoodGym trainer for Thames Ward.
Trainers will lead group walks and runs at least once a week and act as a support system, developing members’ fitness and engaging with the Thames Ward community. Volunteering and fitness are central to the mission of the GoodGym.
GoodGym takes members out of traditional gym setting and into their neighbourhoods for group runs, community projects, and solo runs that end in visiting an older, isolated member of the community. Every runner is assigned a “coach”, an older member of the community – after a run, runners meet with their coaches on a social call or help with a household task they cannot complete on their own.
To apply, send a CV and cover letter to [email protected] with the subject line “Trainer Application” and the name of the area you’re interested in working in.
The application deadline is Monday 10th June.
